Design>> The Design Process

Typically the home design process entails the following steps:

  1. Site visit to assess the natural characteristics of your property’s location and surroundings
  2. Develop a topographical survey plan of your site
  3. Develop a written outline of your custom home design objectives to include (but not limited to)
    • Style
    • Garage Needs
    • Lifestyle requirements for each room
      and layout
    • Ceiling heights
    • Fireplaces
    • Glazing
    • Kitchen needs
    • Deck
    • Bathroom needs and plumbing fixtures
    • Interior stair style
    • Outdoor living areas
    • Patios
  4. Preliminary floor plans are developed showing room layouts, sizes, window locations and door locations.Home plans are then reviewed by the client with our design professionals. Once the client is comfortable with what changes they may like to make we proceed to making the necessary changes.
  5. When the preliminary floor plan changes are completed a 3D model is produced to show the entire exterior of the project. All designs can be viewed in our conference room where they are projected onto a large screen and we will walk you through the designs;or video clips and still photos can be emailed to the client and reviewed during a conference call at a time convenient for everyone.3D Model, Photo of Completed HomeThe final home plans are finished only after the client expresses satisfaction with the preliminary floor, site plan and 3D renderings. In this step all four elevations of the proposed house are produced along with the necessary construction plans required for permitting and construction of the home. The plans are again reviewed by the client before the estimating process begins.
